I&I in the Spotlight at ECML PKDD 2026. AI in Service of Security & Safety

The conference is Europe's premier benchmark event for machine learning and data mining.

Naples – Internet & Idee took part in the prestigious ECML PKDD 2026 (European Conference on Machine Learning and Principles and Practice of Knowledge Discovery in Databases), held in Naples from September 7 to 11, 2026. Within this setting of scientific excellence - where I&I also served as Main Sponsor - Carmelo Macrì, Head of Research & Innovation at Internet&Idee, delivered a presentation titled "AI FOR SECURITY & SAFETY: Predictive intelligence for critical infrastructures and public spaces".
The talk illustrated how the company’s Research & Innovation division integrates expertise in Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Digital Twins, Simulation, and Data Analytics to address two strategic dimensions of risk: Security (cyber threat detection and mitigation) and Safety (physical risk prevention and personal safety management).
During the presentation, Internet&Idee showcased the application of artificial intelligence in safeguarding critical infrastructures, public spaces, and business operations through three proprietary solutions and cutting-edge ecosystems:

•    TIPS
A modular platform designed to ingest and process massive volumes of heterogeneous data (network traffic, system logs, sensors, and OSINT feeds), turning them into proactive threat intelligence. Key components include the IPv4 Suspicious Detector, which uses intelligent models to automatically classify suspicious IP traffic, and the CVE Predictive Analysis Module, which leverages NLP models to forecast the severity of emerging vulnerabilities in advance.

•    GentIA
An innovative simulator for risk management and prevention in heterogeneous crowds. GentIA merges environmental digital twins with digital twins of individuals, moving beyond traditional fluid-dynamics models by deploying intelligent agents capable of modeling individual choices, group dynamics, and emotional states in 3D environments.

•    MELLIS
A cyber-physical platform designed for active defense across industrial IT/OT environments. Powered by silent probes and intelligent honeypots that replicate network topology as a Digital Twin, MELLIS correlates cyber telemetry with physical sensor data. This allows it to distinguish mechanical failures from genuine cyber threats, keeping false positives to a minimum.
